Cali Vacay Recap

Hope you all had a great holiday week and weekend!  Today I'm sharing my outfits and a few of my favorite moments from my trip!  Just to remind you, I was not technically on "vacation" I was in California for the North American Irish Dance Championships.  So, most of my time was spent around the Anaheim Hilton watching dancing and relaxing.

Day 1 Look

After my flight being delayed and not getting the California until the following day, it was quite a hassle getting everything squared away before I could freshen up.  I just threw this dress on because it required the least amount of maintenance right out of my case.

Day 2 Look

I woke up day 2 feeling refreshed after my hectic day.  Thought I'd go down and watch some dancing before heading to Disney.  Not only did I get to see Mickey's parade, but I watched this kid from England dance live.  Pretty sick.

Okay so I'm still working on looking for indicators on where to stand in the frame of my shot.   The upsetting part is the best shots are the one where I'm standing half out of the frame - I hope you all can sympathize with my struggle.  When you stand in front of a blank brick wall there's only so many things that tell apart one brick from another.   

This city doled out another gorgeous day.  Warm in the sun, perfect in the shade.  I love that! 

I'm starting to really get pumped for my California trip!  I'm going to be there for the North American Irish Dance Nationals and of course I'm thinking about what to pack, wear and do!  Ahem - aside from prepare my dancers to kick butt!  What is good in Anaheim other than Disney Land (which I'll be visiting!), I'll need all your suggestions on food, shopping etc!

What I'd Wear

Oireachtas Rince Na Cruinne started yesterday.  For all of you who aren't Irish Dancers, that is the World Championships.  The Olympics of Irish Dancing, only this happens annually.  It's the biggest title any Irish dancer can achieve - to be a World Champion.  For some a World's Recall medal is all they are ever awarded.  Others don't even get a shot.
I watched the live feed last night of the Opening Ceremonies and I just wished I could have been there.  This is only the second time that they've ever been in the United States, they are in Boston.

We aren't able to make it.   But, that does not mean that I'm not dreaming about being there and what I'd wear!!
As a T.C.R.G. (certified Teacher with An Coimisiun, the Irish Dance commission in Dublin) there is a certain unspoken protocol about dress at majors.  It's basically business professional with an insanely trendy twist.   

 I styled this look because I'm currently I'm into the preppy put together look; it's just so fresh and young, yet sophisticated.   It's also modest.  Not having any world qualifiers yet you don't want to look like you're trying to own the place.

A little pattern mixing, pops of color and a reasonable handbag to carry my essentials.
