spring denim guide

A fresh season always warrants a fresh crop of denim.  This year I'm gushing over trends like denim pencils and frayed hems.  Throw in the occasional trend that gives you flash backs to your childhood (overalls! acid wash?) and you have a ton of options to choose from.
I love that light wash denim is back, it's such a nice and light spring look and pairs nicely with neutrals, navy, black and white.

I DIY'd my own frayed hem jeans.  I took an old pair of skinnies that were slightly too short and just cut about an inch off the hem then threw them in the dryer for the fringe.

I keep saying I don't want to go back to overalls, but every time I see an image on Pinterest I can't help but wonder if I can incorporate the trend into my style/closet this season.

Are you trying anything new with your denim this season?

Introducing my short hair!  It was just time, ya know?  I needed something fresh for the arrival of spring.  What a better season for a fresh style?
Speaking of fresh styles I'm loving pairing this light wash chambray with dark denim; especially for spring.  It's such an easy combo for the weekends.   I would pair slip ons for a nice easy relaxed look or heels for a dressier look (as I did this weekend).  I've literally been living in this J.Crew chambray top.  I have to say splurging on this item was a great idea.  The fit is so much better than my other (less expensive) one and the softness of the material is perfection.
Get used to seeing a lot of Kelly (the bag) I'm obsessed and will be using her often.  A coworker actually stopped me on my way out of the office last week and asked if I had splurged at the last Kate sale.  She couldn't believe the bag was from Target.

Believe it or not this is NOT a J.Crew or Target sponsored post, I just am in love with these two items I picked up :)

trend spin: winter white

denim jacket - old navy (similar) | sweater - gap | pants - old navy (similar) | shoes - piperlime

Despite being back in chilly weather I opted to style my white pants with a springy sweater.  I'm such a rebel wearing not only white pants but with neon stripes as if it's April and not the end of February. Come spring and summer I wear the crap out of these pants.  With caution, of course, because unlike any other human in the world I am accident prone with white clothing.   Yet, there is nothing better than a bright white tee or a crisp oxford.
