here comes the sun

top, jeans & shoes (similar shoes) - old navy | bag - target (similar)

Another busy weekend over - happy Monday!! This weekend I had planned a lock in event for the dance school.  We had the kids make up their own parts to a big figure choreography, I held a Frozen sing-a-long and we did crafts!  A great way to spend a gloomy Saturday afternoon.
These snaps were shot Sunday.  We actually had a beautiful 55 degree sunny day and even though I hate direct sunlight in outfit photos it is hard to complain when the weather is too perfect for words.

How was your weekend?

plaid's last chance

Trying to weather the storm here by transitioning some of my favorite wintry pieces into spring.  I am sad to say I think this is it for my dear plaid shirt dress.  I am truly sad as I was only able to wear this a few times due to the extreme cold.
So today being the first day of Spring (officially, yet so very unofficial) I'm saying no to the drab colors that winter brings.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not packing up the sweaters just yet just thinking more spring from here on out!

How has everyone's week been?  I feel like it's been a whirlwind.  First day back to work yesterday and I was given news that I'm moving to a new team.  I'm really sad to leave my current leadership but I'm excited for a new start and a fresh set of relationships to work with.
Anything exciting going on in your world?

color punch

blazer - arden b (similar) | tee - gap (similar) | jeans - gap | bag - target | shoes - piperlime

Even though I adore the soft colors for spring time, it's not really my jam.  I get down with bold, punchy colors when the weather starts going our way.
Get used to seeing this look because come spring (for reals) all I wear is a t-shirt jeans, blazer and whatever shoe variety I'm in the mood for that day.  What can I say, we all have our uniforms, am I right?
Did you all have a good weekend?  It's Monday, it's St. Patrick's Day but I know most festivities went on this weekend.  We had our annual Parade here in town and although it was colder than we'd like it was a blast!  The kids always have such a great time and I was actually shocked at how many people came out!  Despite the cold, there were hundreds lined up on the street.  Must be that cabin fever pulling people out of the house.
If you didn't drink a green beer this weekend maybe you did a little shopping?  I scooped these up and cannot wait their arrival!

Introducing my short hair!  It was just time, ya know?  I needed something fresh for the arrival of spring.  What a better season for a fresh style?
Speaking of fresh styles I'm loving pairing this light wash chambray with dark denim; especially for spring.  It's such an easy combo for the weekends.   I would pair slip ons for a nice easy relaxed look or heels for a dressier look (as I did this weekend).  I've literally been living in this J.Crew chambray top.  I have to say splurging on this item was a great idea.  The fit is so much better than my other (less expensive) one and the softness of the material is perfection.
Get used to seeing a lot of Kelly (the bag) I'm obsessed and will be using her often.  A coworker actually stopped me on my way out of the office last week and asked if I had splurged at the last Kate sale.  She couldn't believe the bag was from Target.

Believe it or not this is NOT a J.Crew or Target sponsored post, I just am in love with these two items I picked up :)

Happy Monday friends!  It's now March and I'm ready for this Lion to head to bed!  I opted for no coat yesterday (not smart, Be Tee Dubs) while wearing this blanket poncho.  Seriously one of my favorite colder weather pieces.  It's so warm; however, not so great for eating or preparing dinner.  My "wings" were all over everything - oops! Sorry fam.

I also styled this poncho here.

I'm also introducing my new handbag (the word just sounds fancy enough to be in italics).   I haven't come up with a name for her yet, maybe I'll call her Kelly in honor of her color.  She sure is beautiful and roomy and she sure was lovely on my bank account ($34.99).  I literally squealed in Target on Saturday when I found this gem; I've been eyeing the Kate Spade version but was pleasantly surprised when I found the same style at a fraction of the cost.

How was everyone's weekend?

mix it: camo layers

Happy Monday!  My girlfriends and I decided that this weekend we would get out of the house and went for lunch and walked around my neighborhood in the city for a good portion of the day Saturday.  It was amazing being out of the house, the cabin fever is setting in big time.   The more you sit around inside the less you want to do anything, it's a vicious cycle but I'm glad that I broke it!

I've worn this camo jacket here, here, and here
How would you style it?

you can call me obsessed

dress - gap // vest - charlotte ruse, similar // boots - shoemint // spike bracelet - siramara // charm - alex and ani

Alright, so I'm wearing out my plaid and fur this season.  Please tell me I'm not the only one!!?!
I cannot stop wearing all types of flannel and plaid and of course my faux fur.  With how bitter cold it has been it's been a darn necessity!   I scored this dress big when Gap was having their sale plus 40% off.  LOVE the plaid colors here, so versatile and it was one of the last pieces I purchased before the great budget halt.
And yes, if you're wondering I froze my cha-ching off taking these snaps while I muttered under my breath "oh the things I do for this blog".    I hope I'm not alone there either...

I'm feeling bold in my new 30 skin - yesterday at work I wore a very Carrie-esque outfit that will hit your eyes soon and I've got some bold things coming up.  Why do we put limits on our wardrobes per season?   Who says florals aren't for all year round, or that you can't wear bold colors in wintry months or the token "no white after labor day".    I could go on for hours with what you aren't allowed to do in fashion.  Who made up those rules?  During this challenge where I'm not spending any money on clothes I really want to try and break those rules.

Are you into rule breaking?  What trends are you obsessed with right now?
