spring trend series - floral jackets!

Welcome to the new March Series "SPRING TRENDS".  So original, yes I realize.  But this year I'm more excited about spring then ever before.  I'm sure I share that sentiment.    

This season coat yourself in florals.  They made an appearance last year but this year seem to be becoming more and more prominent for whole over looks.  Pairing a jacket with pants of the same color scheme, or skirt for that matter.   Small printed florals, large printed florals, blues and reds or greens and beiges; whatever the preference I'm dying over all of them!  

I cannot wait to get my hands on one of these babies and style them with my boyfriend jeans and booties or skinnies and flats or pumps!  SWOON!

I froze my booty off taking these snaps but I'm so over the layers upon layers that I'm just going to freeze.  I even busted out the open toe shoes (I wear boots to work).  The incorporation of spring items is my silent protest to the cold front that is overtaking the north east.  

Enough about the weather though!  How is your week going?  We've made it to HUMP DAY! 

I'm still battling through season 2 of House of Cards.  Holy Crap these Underwood's are fierce!  

I received some new bedroom fixings and have started documenting the room take over - I'm hopping it all comes together, the duvet wasn't quite what I thought it would be.  Still, I'm going for a masculine/feminine mash up.  Just as in my wardrobe ;)

can't go wrong

Chambray and a floral maxi.  Done.  Perfect.  Simple.  Chic.  Comfortable.  Effortless even.   I've had this floral maxi for 2 years and it's definitely not the first thing I reach for, but every time I wear it I'm so glad I did.  Even if my badonk looks redic.   

I head home today - I can't wait to tell you guys about all the fun I had on my trip.  Although, if you follow along on said social medias there in the side bar... ahem...cough cough.   Follow?

keeping cool in floral

I finally caved and put my AC unit in the window.   I call this caving because the best part of summer for me is that I can open the *two* windows I have in my bitty studio apartment.   With only two windows who wants to have them both closed when you can have them open while the birds chirp, neighbors have parties, and firetrucks fly by?   Regardless of my desire to hear every sound in my neighborhood, I clogged up a window.  

The deciding factor was  yesterday morning.  It was an absolute disaster trying to get dressed.  After about 4 outfits, and lots of sweat trying to get the pants on... and then off... I landed on this dress and brought a denim jacket to work with me.  I couldn't bear trying to make another pair of pants work.  

Week is almost over and I'm already ready for vacation!

The other day I talked about getting inspiration from Pinterest.  Which, coincidentally is where I gained the inspiration for this outfit.   Not that chambray with my floral pants is some kind of revelation or anything, but have you ever had such an obvious pairing in front of you that you missed it?  It was like an "aha" moment!  Someday I'll explain how I plan my outfits so that all of my beloved pieces get the love and they deserve.   These pants were hanging with no idea on how to style them for their next rotation and voila, scanning my style inspiration board there it was.
