dress - vintage, similar skirt (could not find black!) // sweater - old navy // heels - sole society // clutch - gap

First full week back to work and back to dance and I'm ready for a weekend or vacation!   I'm hoping I can stay off the online stores this weekend as I'm starting to feel the gimmies setting in.   I have been doing a good job remixing, though.  This outfit is made of a sweater I may have just purchased in December but the dress was my grandmothers, the clutch I bought last spring and the heels in November.

My name is Nina and I'm a shopaholic.
I'm 8 days sober and plan to stay that way...for now.

Is every one else on a shopping ban too?  I see a lot of remix challenges on Instagram and Twitter as of late.

meow statement

coat, jeans and booties - old navy
similar coat style here, here

Back to the grind big time this week.  The first full week of work and dance class starts (weather permitting).  It's also my first week back to 100% paleo lifestyle and going to the gym.   Hopefully the weather permits that as well.

I'm linking up today for the Trend Spin with Walking in Memphis in High Heels, The Fashion Canvas and their guest host The Parlor Girl.
Coats is the game, so I pulled out my favorite leopard print car coat.  Using this as the statement and interest piece of my outfit I tailored it a bit with a chunky belt.
Next week is scarves - feel free join!

twenty fourteen

coat - h&m // sweater - old navy // cords - old navy // boots - american eagle // bag - michael kors

save more.
learn more.

That is my resolution.   This and along with the things I have planned for my tiny space on the internet, I'd like to commit to sharing more with you.   To take the time to tell you more stories of my insane life, it's quite funny!  Since the holidays have begun I've been quite lazy about my presence here and that is changing.  I rather love this little space, the friends I've made and the style journey I'm on.

Here is some of what I have planned:

Linking up on Mondays for a remix challenge - I'm a huge fan of remixing one's own closet and in an effort to keep with resolution numero dos and save more money, I will be attempting to "not shop" (I know I've said this before) until  spring.  Now let's think about this; I don't need anything until the snow melts and it's time to bust out the spring wear.

I want to feature more Paleo and Healthy Recipes; this is tough because I often "whip" up things with what I have in my house, they turn out great and I've not taken any photos of the process.    I want to try to share more of these with you.  A healthy lifestyle is easy given the tools.
This will also lead into the new weekly feature "Fitness Friday" this will replace the weekend workouts and I'm a sucker for a good alliteration.  I will feature a workout and a recipe.

The Happiest of New Year's to you all!  Thank you for stopping by and reading and commenting daily!

Cheers to 2014!

practical

vest - jcpenny, similar // turtleneck - lands end // jeans - old navy // boots - sorel

I wore this out this weekend to finish up my Christmas shopping.  I am usually done by now and do most of my shopping online; I have never realized how many people leave it for the last minute!
Can you believe it's Christmas week already!?  I mean, December just flew by and it's been insane.
This is truly my favorite time of year.  From the seasonal treats, festivities and traditions; the allover joy is overwhelming to me.
Some of my favorite traditions are exchanging sister gifts on Christmas eve.  I've said before that it's always so exciting to see what we've gotten one another and I always have this excitement to give my gift.  My nephew Romeo is old enough to know of Santa this year and we're going to start new traditions by setting up this from Pinterest!

What are some of your favorite Holiday traditions?

all the world is a stage

tank - old navy // chambray - old navy // pants - express, capri editor // shoes - target

So said Shakespeare - which means, you wear sequins on a Tuesday.  Despite how I look in the "side" shots, I'm not pregs.  Promise.   It would seem layering a stiff sequined top over a button down leaves less than to be desired, let's call them, wrinkles in the front tummy area.
I also did that crazy blogger Starbucks Cup Pose thang.  I couldn't help it it was 4 degrees out this morning!!  That also explains the look on my face in some of these shots.  "Oohhhhh holy crap it's cold, hurry hurry hurry camera so I can put my 40 below parka back on".

pea coats and pleats

coat - h&m, similar // shirt - old navy, similar // skirt - express, similar // belt - charlotte russe, similar // shoes - solesociety

I'm having a bit of fun remixing my pieces while I'm "not shopping".   This skirt I've had for ages and wore it last here.   I think this look so says Holiday Soiree.
I find that with the few pieces I have purchased I'm able to come up with endless outfit options.  Which, is a good thing for me because I come down with symptoms of FOMO and the Gimme's.
It is so fun rediscovering pieces in your closet and making them feel new again!

testing the limits

moto - express (similar) // sweater - gap // jeans - old navy (similar) // shoes - target (similar)

I posted this outfit on Instagram yesterday.  I pushed the envelope a little bit with our "business casual" attire at work and went with the risqué trouser denim.  I have to say, it went without a hitch.  I thought for sure by noon someone would have confronted me on my daring move - yet, no one did.

I did get a remote (on eBay for $5) and am still getting used to it in addition to the settings on my camera in different and challenging light.  These shots came out a little grainy and I'm not sure why.
Oh well, practice makes perfect :)

my favorite puffer vest

shirt - old navy // vest - walmart // jeans - charlotte russe old (similar) // booties - steve madden via marshalls (similar)

Truly.  This vest was $10 at Walmart.  And just after I admired the J.Crew Factory version longingly sighing to myself about how much saving I'd have to do to afford said gorge vest.  I just happened to be waltzing through Wally-World (which I never do mind you, but friends on Instagram and their thrifty finds, man!)  and BAM (just like Emeril) there they were.  Rows of pink, navy, black, purple and teal puffy vests.  Oh my I said to myself, I must see if they have my size and honestly, I though when I picked up the tag it was sure to say $29.99 or something in that range.  I gasped at the $9.99 tag and immediately called my sisters to see if anyone else wanted one.
This is one of many ways I've worn the vest.  If you follow along on Instagram (if you don't, you should... ) you know I wear this thing all.  the.  time.

Ah! So I have some exciting news - I was invited to the LOFT Concept Store Grand Opening here in Rochester tomorrow night!  It's from 6-9 at the Greece Ridge Mall and if you're in the area you should stop by!!   I can't wait to cover the opening and share the experience with all of you!

How's your week going?
