florals & eyelets

dress - gap (on sale! with code TREAT) | hat - bcbgeneration | shoes - forever 21

Hope everyone's week is off to a great start!  I wore this gorgeous dress on Easter Sunday and it was a huge hit.  My grandma even told me I looked like the "new princess" which is the upmost of compliments.    Some thought it was vintage and no one could believe it is made out of sweatshirt material.   I am considering going back for the other colors because I know I will live in this dress.
I tell ya, Gap is really hitting the mark with their new arrivals.  I've been a bit of a Gap/Old Navy fan-boy, though.
In other news we are gearing up for our recital in a few weeks and the competitive team is getting ready for heavy competition season and Nationals in Montreal!   I'm so excited to go and hopefully I'll have a little time to see Montreal.

Anything exciting coming  up for you?

currently craving: GAP

Man, it's difficult to pull in the gimme reigns and refuse to take  gander through the Gap website.   They have so many adorably preppy and chic items right now and the sales?  You cannot resist them. I am ultimately waiting until it's Gap Cash reception time because I've already earned some.

I've picked out some of my favorites below!

pep in my step

sweater - j.crew factory // shirt, jeans & flats - gap  // necklace - siramara

Since about October I've been craving luxe neutrals and earth tones.  There's been a shift in my consciousness and now I want to wear all the colors all the time.  I'm not sure if it's the remixing that's got me thinking this way or if I'm just tired of the same 4 sweaters and so I'm mixing it up a little bit more.  Either way, this purple and orange-cicle combo put a little pep in my step last week.

I'm celebrating Hump Day a little extra this week.  I took off Friday and have Martin Luther King Day off of work and am just so happy to have a four day weekend.
A weekend full errands, lounging, appointments and more outfit planning.  Do you guys do that too?
If I'm bored laying around the house and don't feel like doing that any more, I start ripping apart my closet.   Either way, I'm excited for what the weekend brings.

you can call me obsessed

dress - gap // vest - charlotte ruse, similar // boots - shoemint // spike bracelet - siramara // charm - alex and ani

Alright, so I'm wearing out my plaid and fur this season.  Please tell me I'm not the only one!!?!
I cannot stop wearing all types of flannel and plaid and of course my faux fur.  With how bitter cold it has been it's been a darn necessity!   I scored this dress big when Gap was having their sale plus 40% off.  LOVE the plaid colors here, so versatile and it was one of the last pieces I purchased before the great budget halt.
And yes, if you're wondering I froze my cha-ching off taking these snaps while I muttered under my breath "oh the things I do for this blog".    I hope I'm not alone there either...

I'm feeling bold in my new 30 skin - yesterday at work I wore a very Carrie-esque outfit that will hit your eyes soon and I've got some bold things coming up.  Why do we put limits on our wardrobes per season?   Who says florals aren't for all year round, or that you can't wear bold colors in wintry months or the token "no white after labor day".    I could go on for hours with what you aren't allowed to do in fashion.  Who made up those rules?  During this challenge where I'm not spending any money on clothes I really want to try and break those rules.

Are you into rule breaking?  What trends are you obsessed with right now?

time to remix

coat - h&m // sweater - gap // jeans - gap // shoes - old navy // necklace - old navy

Today I'm linking up with Fizz and Frosting and Living in Yellow for Mix it Mondays.  A linkup for remixing is perfect for me this time of year (and maybe you, too!) since I'm not shopping (dum, dum dahmmmmm).
Although this sweater is new, you've seen that h&m coat here, and here
You've also seen these jeans here (pre hole in the knee and ass) and here
Since said holes have arrived I try to keep the wearing to the weekends.  A trip to the tailor is soon to come because I cannot part with these babies.

This sweater is so luxurious at a price I couldn't pass up (pre shopping ban, of course) while Gap was having their big winter sale plus an additional 40% off.   The cut is perfection and the fabric being a cotton cashmere blend, luscious.   You will be seeing a few new pieces that I purchased in December but I will be taking part in the infamous #2014closetremixchallenge join the party on Instagram!

Or, see how I mix it up here each week!

tangled in blue

sweater - gap, similar // jeans - gap // heels - target, similar // bag - michael kors

I'm always so inspired by Blair at Atlantic-Pacific and her ability to look stunning and natural in an oversized sweater, boyfriend jeans and spikes.

I hope you all had a great weekend!  We got our first real snow and I put up my Christmas decorations.  I went a little crazy in The Christmas Tree Shoppe - that place is amazing, I hope you have one by you.  Literally the most random things on the planet for a steal.   Sure, they may not make it to the next season but for $6.99 who cares!
As we prepare for our Regional Championships (Mid-Atlantic Region Oireachtas) I'm feeling really happy about how our dancers have progressed and that they've really turned into the best dancers they can be right now.  I cannot wait to see them on stage this coming week and see what they can actually do!   Besides the dancing, the "O" is my favorite weekend of the year because I get to spend it with my besties.   We get to wear sequins, have mimosas for breakfast and run around in heels all weekend.  It's hell on Earth and I couldn't ask for more.

all the classics

vest - jc penny (similar) // shirt - gap (similar) // jeans - gap // booties - steve madden via marshals (similar) // bag - relic via marshals // necklace - charming charlie

I forced my sister to buy this vest; trying to convince her that faux fur is a closet staple.  She disagrees with me to this day on that point and gave me this vest to "rock" since she won't wear it.   I just love how this outfit came out; the stripes, the leopard the cuffed skinnies, booties and statement necklace.  Everything just ties together so well, if I do say so myself.  Yes, that is me tooting my own horn.  You have to do that sometimes, see.  It makes you feel good about yourself :)

I had a great weekend and hope you all did too!
