bare minimum blogging

I bet a few of you have noticed that I haven't been my bloggy self.  Unfortunately the damage to my laptop is worsening by the day and it's making it extremely difficult to not only blog, but to view all of my blogger friends posts and make comments.  I sincerely apologize for my bare minimum blogging.  I am sending my laptop off for repairs at the end of the week and anticipate being back to blogging at full capacity by the end of next week.  Bear with me!
In other news it's HUMP DAY! :) We've made it through half this week; a week that seems to be a short little return of summer.

I hope you all are having a good week!

weekend recap

I have had a lot of fun this summer, and it's gone by quickly!  This weekend was a blast.  Friday night I celebrated a friends birthday with her.  Saturday I went to the public market, had an amazing breakfast over delicious coffee with great company.  I got my hair done, too!  I'm no longer a partial blonde.  I discovered that they don't have more fun and decided to go back to my brunette roots (ha, no punn intended).   It was just, once again, time for some change.  There's also a few things I'll be changing this fall.  My spending being one of them and back on track with near 100% clean eating.  I get so excited about the fall, too!  The cider (and donuts!) the pumpkin ale, stews, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkins, pumpkin flavored anything.    Being so excited about the next season makes the indian summers just brutal.  It will be 92 tomorrow here.  Like really?  That hot?!
Oh, anyways, back to my weekend.  Yesterday we had a huge party for the football week one!  A great time had by all, even if the Steelers lost :(  They've got a lot of work to do!

How was everyone else's weekend?

send me on my way

Today is my Friday - woot!  Sorry, not sorry for rubbing it in all of your faces!
I'm headed out of town for a friend's wedding, but not before I enjoy some lovely festivities!  Rusted Root is playing tonight for free.  They actually come quite frequently to our area and are amazing every time I go!
Tonight after work a few of my friends and I will head up to Highland Park to sing along to 90's folky favorites like "Send Me On My Way".    A theme song of my sisters and me growing up as it is used in the movie Matilda.  Remember that movie?  That adorable stinking kid with the super powers and Danny DeVito?    It was one that got a lot of play time in our household!
Don't worry - I'll have some lovely posts scheduled for you including a workout for your weekend! :)

Happy Thursday

colors + patterns

It took a lot of fashion courage to rock this busy look.  I'm slowly getting better at pattern mixing and bold colors.  I went light on the accessories, despite my want to try to glam this up it's not really office appropriate.

These pants are swiftly becoming favorites of mine, though.  They are so comfortable and look so much more expensive than they really were.

That's all for now!

spring-time color

I'm a t-shirt and jeans gal at heart.  Sure, I love getting dressed up now-a-days but this is truly where I'm most comfortable.  I'm loving that baseball tee's are in style right now because I live in this thing!

Let's talk about my hair for a minute - there have only been a small amount of posts with crazy wild Julia Roberts in My Best Friend's Wedding style hair over here.  But, I'll tell ya something - this is my natural hair.  I typically spend countless hours straightening and then curling with the iron.  Seems counter intuitive right - since I have naturally curly hair?  Well, we all want what we can't have.  I'm thankful I have options.  I can easily straighten or have it curly/wavy/crazy as seen above.

How is your hair?

crocodile hunting

I felt like I was going on an African Safari in this look!  Pulled these thrifted cargo capris out with all my spring stuff and they're typically something I hike in.  Just goes to show you how you can remix and repurpose your clothes!
I love all the neutrals here, though.  It's so refreshing to wear them all together verses pairing them with brights and neons.   "Simple Sally" as my sister would say.

Next time you see me I'll be a bit blonder (thank goodness for getting my hair did)!

more stripes?

And yet, I cannot get enough.  I keep purchasing and still more seem to be surfacing from my closet.  Striped tops, that is.    This happened to be one of the mornings I had time to snap my pics before not only the sun was truly up but also before I had to leave for work.
Everything in this outfit is an obsession of mine right now; from the stripes to the neon coral clutch, the nude open toe wedges and yep - still rocking this eBay boyfriend jean score!
This outfit was completely inspired by Pinterest.  I just typed in "boyfriend jeans" trying to gain some inspiration on other looks from clothes similar to what I already own.   This is where I jot down something on my "need/want" shopping list.  If I repeatedly pin a hot pink blazer, I probably should track one down!  As you know, I also love adding feminine touches to a slouchy or masculine look.  Such as, the bun, clutch, and wedges.

What kind of dress up are you playing lately?

chambray + stripes

If you had told me five years ago that I'd be fighting the urge every morning to wear my chambray top I wouldn't have believed you!  A denim...shirt?! No way!  Well, way my friends, way!  The perfect duo here, stripes and chambray.  This is by far playing it safe with this jailbird skirt I scored at Target for $8 (yep! Now you want to shop with me, eh?)
It's actually quite funny, I had this outfit already paired up on the closet door (where I organize my outfits for the week) when I saw Anna Jane of See Jane almost wear the same pairing!

lemon drop

I wore this outfit on Sunday for our end of the year Recital.  This is now the second time I've worn this skirt and I may try to get it in another color.  It's adorable and so comfortable and has pockets! So clutch!  It's one of those "twirly" a-line skirts, that you could spin and spin in (obviously not in these shoes!).
The only downside?  Dry clean only.   So annoying!!   I'm the type of person who would throw this in just the washer and ultimately ruin my most expensive piece I've bought so far this spring (eep!).    Thank goodness for Dryell, which I'll be attempting... probably after one more wear! Ha-ha.
Anyways, I love it paired with the denim jacket which I threw together on a whim; add a little red lip for some glam and whammy!

Thanks for reading my ramble...
Be sure to follow along for more ramblings

sports fan

Sports Luxe is a look I don't consider for myself often.  To me it looks a little off, too edgy or risky...   I could certainly try to pair my hot pink Nike running shorts with dainty heels and a cute top, but honestly it's not me.

This look, however, is me; I was a huge tomboy as a kid!   I still enjoyed playing dress up in my mom's old bridesmaid dresses like any other little girl but my dad and I had a special sports bond.  All us girls learned how to throw a baseball (and now a football!) and played soccer.   In the 90's when Tiger made the game of golf popular to the everyday man I really got into watching golf with my dad.  The Rider Cup was always my favorite.... something about those Euro's against us Yanks got me excited.  Dad taught me how to play golf and now that is also something I love to do once the nice weather hits!

This is sounding like a Father's Day post, but truly I love this sweatshirt and this outfit was the most comfortable thing outside of yoga pants (which I don't advise wearing out of the house).

Hope you enjoyed your weekend and
thanks for stopping by!
