time for a spring mani/pedi!

I love the feeling of a freshly done mani/pedi!  In the winter I tend to go dark on my hands and leave my toes bare so that they can breathe!  But once the weather turns about 50, I am surely soaking my toes in a nice warm tub of beautifully scented soap soaks and scrubbing all the winter skin away.   Does anyone else do their own?  Don't get me wrong I love going and having someone do a pedicure for me, but I don't think it's always worth the cost.  Especially when drug stores and places like Ulta and Sephora make it so easy to do it yourself.

When I do my mani/pedi I don't typically pick matching colors.  I either do complimentary colors or a softer tone and a brighter tone.  Softer on the fingers, brighter on the toes.  I've rounded up some of my favorites from Essie's spring line (can be found at Target).

Are your toes out yet?

sports fan

Sports Luxe is a look I don't consider for myself often.  To me it looks a little off, too edgy or risky...   I could certainly try to pair my hot pink Nike running shorts with dainty heels and a cute top, but honestly it's not me.

This look, however, is me; I was a huge tomboy as a kid!   I still enjoyed playing dress up in my mom's old bridesmaid dresses like any other little girl but my dad and I had a special sports bond.  All us girls learned how to throw a baseball (and now a football!) and played soccer.   In the 90's when Tiger made the game of golf popular to the everyday man I really got into watching golf with my dad.  The Rider Cup was always my favorite.... something about those Euro's against us Yanks got me excited.  Dad taught me how to play golf and now that is also something I love to do once the nice weather hits!

This is sounding like a Father's Day post, but truly I love this sweatshirt and this outfit was the most comfortable thing outside of yoga pants (which I don't advise wearing out of the house).

Hope you enjoyed your weekend and

Printed Pants from the Office to Happy Hour

Printed pants; a trend that is a bit risqué in a lot of office environments.  But, paired with simple staple pieces and accessories you can easily take these weekend wonders to work with you (say that 10 times fast!).

Below I've styled them two ways.  I love the office look.  It's simple and chic and will show that you have a little bit of edge to you.  Which, in todays working atmosphere is key!

The Happy Hour look is something that I would most definitely change into post work - pre drinks!   A little bit of pattern mixing with subtle pops of color!

Which look is your fav!?

bohemian

Everyday when I dress myself I try, and try to accessorize like all of those fabulous women out there who can wear 8 bazillion bangles and look amazing.  When I do it, it comes out like this - bohemian.  That's likely due to most of my jewels being from 1998...  I have a problem with buying them!  I just cannot seem to pull the trigger when it comes to statement necklaces or bangles for your wrist, etc.

Anyone else suffering from this?

stripes and dots

This is only the second time I have used my new (to me) camera for outfit shots.  I have to say that the auto focusing is a bit of a struggle on some of the shots.  Having only my tripod for help, that is.   Either that or I move an awful lot while taking these things I cannot tell!

Today I mixed it up a bit.  Nearly wore this adorable peachy striped top with my pastel pink pants, and I may some day but I'm trying to jump that polkadot pant styling hurdle I've been blankly starring at.
After the mere blizzard this weekend it's starting to finally feel like spring again.

wide heels big hearts

A wide heeled shoe is the perfect bit of edge.  From office to play - these can be worn with a pencil or maxi!

I've rounded up some of my favorites below.  Here's how I'd style them -

1. Style these patterned cuties with pleated maxi or midi skirt and a flowy top.
2. Seafoam pairs great with a structured top and boyfriend jeans.
3. Perfect for a pink eyelet pencil skirt and top for the office.
4. Pair with a frayed shorts, edgy top and floppy hat.

Which suits your style?

boyfriend jeans

If you've been a reader for a while you know that I loooooooove finding treasures via eBay, and that I've had a crush on boyfriend jeans for a little bit now.  I scored these Gap Sexy Boyfriend jeans for $10 last week on eBay!   Practically brand new!   I was so excited to wear them when they arrived in the mail this week.
Another score?  A Canon dSLR camera!  Used, but I'm still pretty stoked to be upgrading from a point and shoot.
Any good tutorials for learning how to use it?

Weekend Workout & Workout Wear

It usually starts in January.  The resolutions for bikini bodies.  But, if you aren't already working THE TIME IS NOW!  If you follow along you know that I usually post a workout on Saturdays.   But obtaining the ideal body health means treating your body like a temple from the inside out.  What I mean is, what you eat.   Losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is 75-80% diet before exercise.  You absolutely can max out your results by working out 4-6 times a week, however if you're eating pizza and beer every night for dinner you will likely maintain your current weight or gain more.

What I like to do to kickstart my metabolism and healthy eating is a good ole cleanse.  I typically do a 30 day strict Paleo, but my sister Sara likes to do an Advocare cleanse.   Advocare is a supplement program that promotes health and wellness from the inside out.  Their cleanse is a 10 day cycle where you eat mostly vegetables and meat and supplement in your vitamins, caffeine {from their Spark product, no coffee! :( }, and meal replacement shakes.  If you feel you need more guidance to kick start your healthy lifestyle visit Advocare!

Now that I've blabbed on... on to the workout this week!
Let's start with a good cardio burn!

Warm up with:
1 min Jog in Place
1 min Jumping Jacks
2 min Straight Leg Kicks

3, 2, 1...GO!
1 min Push Ups {if you need to modify, that is OK!}
30 sec Plank Hold
1 min Burpee {to modify, step your feet out one at a time instead of jumping out at the bottom}
2 min Side Lunge, alternating
30 sec Side to Side Hops {be sure feet are together}
2 min Squats
1 min Hip Lifts*
1 min Opposite Arm to Leg Extension*
30 sec Cross Back Lunge*
30 sec Side to Side Hops
30 sec Push Ups
30 sec Alternating Lunges
1 min Reverse Crunches
30 sec Squat Jumps

...And repeat.

Drink lots of water and be sure you cool down by walking around for a few minutes and stretching your muscles.

How to: Wear Camo Pants!

Camo pants have been around for a little bit now.  Have you scooped up a pair yet?
I wanted to show a couple ways to style them since I myself am a little timid to try them out!
Camo is the perfect blend of a neutral but a pop of color and pattern as well.
I've styled it two ways below; dressed up and dressed down!

I'm loving both looks, cannot decide which is my favorite!
The first, dressed up look, is great for a night out on the town!
The second look I would wear to work or on a weekend outing!

Which is your favorite?
