snow!

poncho - ny&co, similar / shirt - old navy / jeans - gap / boots - ugg

As I wait for a crippling snow storm I'm happy to be home safe with no where to go tonight and a prayer for a snow day from work!
Can we talk about this poncho for a sec? Yeah? Ok, cool - I love this thing.  I got it on super clearance a few Christmas' ago (we always shop the day after Christmas!) and it's so versatile and classic.  It's like wearing a blanket, it's so cozy!
I also love this plaid top -it's the perfect flatter to loose ratio and it's on sale right now.  Go, go now.

Happy Hump Day

get in my closet!

As the weather man is predicting a snow storm blowing through this week I'm craving cozy clothes to curl up on the couch with.   All you need is a plush throw, a hot cup of chocolate and your favorite holiday flicks!

Santa are you paying attention?
I wouldn't be able to stop wearing this awesome card with the elbow patches.  I'm obsessed this season and must get my hands on one with such a darling embellishment.
Faux fur? Snood? Oh how Elizabeth Taylor and so rustic all at the same time.
How many striped tops can one person own, a million? amiright?
Don't these leggings look perfect for a cuddled up night by the fire or a blustery Saturday?
And last but certainly not least I'm in desperate need of some new slippers - these fit the bill alright, especially since I love the moccasin style verses the slip on!

What's on your wish list?

tangled in blue

sweater - gap, similar // jeans - gap // heels - target, similar // bag - michael kors

I'm always so inspired by Blair at Atlantic-Pacific and her ability to look stunning and natural in an oversized sweater, boyfriend jeans and spikes.

I hope you all had a great weekend!  We got our first real snow and I put up my Christmas decorations.  I went a little crazy in The Christmas Tree Shoppe - that place is amazing, I hope you have one by you.  Literally the most random things on the planet for a steal.   Sure, they may not make it to the next season but for $6.99 who cares!
As we prepare for our Regional Championships (Mid-Atlantic Region Oireachtas) I'm feeling really happy about how our dancers have progressed and that they've really turned into the best dancers they can be right now.  I cannot wait to see them on stage this coming week and see what they can actually do!   Besides the dancing, the "O" is my favorite weekend of the year because I get to spend it with my besties.   We get to wear sequins, have mimosas for breakfast and run around in heels all weekend.  It's hell on Earth and I couldn't ask for more.

weekend workout!

{for image source checkout my Fitness Pinterest Board

If you're like me, you went out last night for A drink which turned into several and closing the bar - oops!   The last thing you want to do while nursing a wicked hangover is get up and start moving but, it's the best thing for you.  This easy and simple (no excuse) workout is perfect.
So get out of bed, put on a sports bra and do this!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend friends and always, thanks for reading!

gifts for your guy for around $100

I always struggled with gifts for my dude friend.  Unfortunately for me, I typically date guys that just buy things that they want.  They don't gloat on and on about wanting something that they don't buy for themselves making it extremely difficult to pick out a gift for them!  So, I tend to go for the more odds and ends items.  Things they don't think they need.
When I saw this table top foosball table I knew this would absolutely be something fun.  Have some people over, pop open a few beverages and you'll soon be challenging people for table top soccer matches.
A great scarf is a must have for anybody, men and women alike.  I love this timeless fair isle pattern perfect for the hipster or the prepster.
Everyone needs a good pair of slippers.  LL Bean has amazing selections and will typically repair over worn shoes when the fuzz on the inside starts going.
A man always should wear a watch.  Even with how popular smart phones are these days, when you meet a man and he's wearing a watch it's a good sign he's typically on time.
A decent travel kit is a must have as well.  Men don't think they need cosmetics or toiletries let alone something to hold them.

Have you decided what you're getting your man?  All of these items would be perfection given together or separate.

a little thrift shopping

I hope it's ok that I don't have an outfit for you today, but I wanted to share some of the cool findings thrifting this Saturday.   Unfortunately, I wasn't in the position to drop serious cash because I definitely would have scooped up that gorgeous clock or that amazing mod couch!
Historic Houseparts was just plain ole'cool.  They have all these vintage/antique pieces to restore your old victorian home.

copy cat

blazer - h&m, similar // plaid shirt - american eagle, similar // skirt - marshals, similar, similar // tights - target // shoes - solesociety

When I saw Cathy at Poor Little It Girl wear this outfit last week I was inspired to pull out my own glittery number to recreate the look.   See, when I'm not shopping as much for new things I tend to copy a lot more of what I see around verses recreate looks with new pieces I've just acquired.  This helps keep my closet feeling fresh.    I cannot tell you the last time I wore any of these pieces.  This navy blazer? What a classic!  But, there is sat.  This sequined skirt?  I thought maybe too bold or crazy for the office.  Well I pulled it off.   With no less than 10 strange looks from co-workers.   I'm rather liking this remixing game ;)

get in my closet!

This week's edition of "get in my closet" current cravings is short and sweet.  If you remember from last week, I did a bit of shopping and curbed some of those gimme feelings.   Now my sights are set on Christmas and gifting.  Not only would I love to receive these items but I'd love to give them!
I can't wait to share with you the gift guides I have coming up!!  My sisters and I do a gift exchange where we try every year to keep a secret and it always ends up coming out who has who.

Sara would adore this sweater.  It's her jam to dress a sweater up with leggings and boots or jeans and flats!
Morgan would love these fair isle leggings; with the reindeer and wintery print they're perfect for under combat boots and a tunic.
Ryan would do this statement necklace justice; she loves sparkles and I think this has just enough edge for her.
And I'll take the hat :)

Are you planning for holiday givings yet?

OTK

blazer - loft, similar // top - boutique in los angeles, similar // denim - american eagle // boots - shoemint // bag - relic via marshals

I didn't think I could pull off the OTK trend; but when I saw these boots on sale for (take a deep breath, I hope you're sitting, are you sitting?  I was serious) $30 I had to take a chance and scoop them up.  I figured if all failed, I'd sell them and keep my $30 secret to myself.  Yes, I'm greedy like that.    This style is perfect for my short little frame, though.  They aren't an exaggerated OTK and with the high chunky heel the look is balanced.

Anyhoo - how was everyone's weekend!?  I had a great time thrifting with my aunt on Saturday, I can't wait to show you the snaps and stories this week.   Stay tuned!  Also, I'd like to just apologize for my lazy/missing posts and commenting.  This time of year it's hard to wear 3 hats.  Full Time Employee for a mortgage company hat,  Dance teacher and co-director of a studio hat and blogger hat.  It's coming extremely close to our impending regional championships (Thanksgiving weekend) and although the kids are looking GREAT (which is awesome of course) it is still a lot of extra work on my partners and myself.   In the end it's definitely worth it, but oh the struggle getting there!!  I write this lounging enjoying Frank Sinatra Radio on Sunday morning sipping coffee procrastinating on my workout, chores, errands to only then go to the studio and roll out our new flooring.   Alas things must get done.  So for the next couple weeks I'm doing my best to schedule posts and utilize the editorial calendar I've mapped out and I promise come December I'll be back at it full force :)  I know that some of you do WAY more than I do - we all have our limits I guess.  But I want to THANK YOU for continuing to support my little hobby and passion!!!
