get in my closet - holiday edition!

I have an extra case of the gimmies this week due to missing Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  I also have Holiday style on the brain - I mean, we should all be gearing up for parties and gift exchanges, right?  Right.

I love all the gold, red and black together.  You all know it's my thing to mix textures and styles; I would die to have this gold sequined cardigan to pair with my lace LBD and sparkly red polish.
Add a bold lip, fierce booties and you are ready to hit the Holiday party scene!

get in my closet!

This week's edition of "get in my closet" current cravings is short and sweet.  If you remember from last week, I did a bit of shopping and curbed some of those gimme feelings.   Now my sights are set on Christmas and gifting.  Not only would I love to receive these items but I'd love to give them!
I can't wait to share with you the gift guides I have coming up!!  My sisters and I do a gift exchange where we try every year to keep a secret and it always ends up coming out who has who.

Sara would adore this sweater.  It's her jam to dress a sweater up with leggings and boots or jeans and flats!
Morgan would love these fair isle leggings; with the reindeer and wintery print they're perfect for under combat boots and a tunic.
Ryan would do this statement necklace justice; she loves sparkles and I think this has just enough edge for her.
And I'll take the hat :)

Are you planning for holiday givings yet?

get in my closet & home!

So I did a bit of shopping...  Ok don't judge me, you've all had weak moments too!  In my defense the boots were on sale, the jeans and pants were on sale (old navy, hope you didn't miss out on it!), the area rug was on sale, and the pillows, tea lights and scent melters I had a coupon for...   oops.  Ok but real talk, those boots below.  See them?  They're adorable and comfortable and while shopping with my mom yesterday I put them back.  I may or may not be going back.
Don't they just look perfect for a fall weekend day?  With a skinny jean, cozy sweater and cute and functional beanie - I'm in love.

currently craving v3.0

As you know I moved into a new apartment about a month ago.  If you follow along on Instagram you saw the pillows I splurged on  and that my place is slowly but surely coming along.  This herringbone area rug from Urban Outfitters will be on it's way to me this week and it's going to change the room!!
I'm so focused on balancing wardrobe updates with setting the scene here in the new Chateau that I wanted to share with you my current cravings - apartment edition!

tuesday trend - snakeskin

You all know my obsession with Leopard print.  Slowly I'm being turned onto other animal prints; for instance, the bathroom in my new apartment is zebra!  Taking a trip on the wild side - for me an animal print is a great way to jazz up a neutral hue.   Snakeskin is such a neutral,  yet it's so fun and the perfect interest piece to any boring outfit.

Layer under a fur vest or utility jacket.
Pair with a cozy sweater in a bold jewel tone.
Accessorize to add interest and texture to your outfit.

The options are endless!

10 pieces under $50 - LEOPARD!

If you are like me you can make an entire outfit of your leopard pieces.  I just cannot get enough!  It makes me really giddy on the inside that this trend is here to stay.

Leopard is a great way to add a little fun pop and texture to your look.   Swap out regular jeans for printed, a hum drum button down for a leopard chiffon shell or throw all your essentials in a leopard tote!  I may have to snag this leopard tote - it is to die for, and that leopard utility vest?  Drool.

I've rounded up my top 10 favorites under $50 (for us frugal fashionistas) from the inter-webs

Which are your favorites?

these boots are made for walkin'

I love when the cooler weather comes around and we can all bust out the boots!  You pull them out of their tubs, or hidden places they were stored during the spring and summer months and if you're like me, you have a little chat with them.  Tell them how much you missed them and how much love they will be getting over the next few months.   Then you evaluate what you have, what can be thrown away and what needs to be purchased or re-purchased.  Sometimes just like sandals, the less expensive boots take a beating.
So, I bring you my favorite boot round up.

An ankle boot in every color is absolutely necessary!
A good riding boot (loving these Tory ones!)
Black knee high boots are a must - so chic and sexy
and you can't forget little chuka style dusters.

Which are your favorite?  Have you gotten your boots out yet?  It will be 90 here today so I'll be waiting a few more weeks!

tuesday trend | powder pink

I absolutely love when a pastel color stays true through fall and winter.   I'm loving all the peachy powder pink wear out there right now.  It's a great way to transition into fall and winter without looking drab, which is so easy to do!
I've rounded up a few of my favorites in this luxurious hue from around the web below. My favorites are the vest, oxford and striped top.
Pair these with the colors shown or oxblood (another hot color this coming season), navy, or rich chestnut brown to pull your look into fall.

Which piece is your favorite and how would you wear it?

12 transitional pieces to take you from summer to fall

AH! I said it.  Transitional from summer to fall...  sorry not sorry, but it's happening.  And although I may be a bit premature the cooler weather is most definitely pushing me in the fall direction.  I tried to choose pieces that you may already have from either last season or this summer.  Let's go down the list -

fall transitional pieces.

1. Denim Vest - the slightly cooler version of the denim jacket. This is slightly more versatile especially for a transition season!  Layer this over a tshirt dress now and a sweater later!

2. Utility Jacket - The perfect throw over on a cooler summer night in front of a camp fire.  Equally perfect on a cool fall day with a tshirt and jeans.  This is a must-have!

3. Striped Sweater - duh, do I have to explain?  We all know I'm obsessed with stripes...

4. Jewel toned shell - jewel tones are amazing for fall to show off your summer tan and layer under more earthy toned suits and casual wear.

5. Leopard Flats - another duh moment. Really keeping my eye on these Madewell skimmers... I want them!

6. Sueded loafers - so cute with shorts and button up now for a casual weekend look and pair them with boyfriend jeans and a slouchy sweater later!

7. Floral Top - This is great now with a pencil skirt, shorts, you name it.  Bring it into fall with a utility jacket and boyfriend jeans or denim jacket and earthy colored pants.

8. Boyfriend Jeans - I wear mine constantly, they are amazing with a wide variety of shoes and tops.

9. Dark Wash Jeans - a nice dark wash just looks great with knee high boots and flats.

10.  Pants in Earthy Tones - what a better way to celebrate foliage than with earthy tones?  They're great for spring through fall.

11. Ankle Boots - easily worn with dresses now and skinny or boyfriend jeans later

12. Jewel toned flats - every girl needs some fun flats to rock.  Beautiful colored flats keep fall interesting!
