TGIF

Remember when I told you how to wear neon to work?  I love this top, it makes the perfect little shell.  The tank straps are too skinny to wear alone, though.   But, it was a nice pop of color.

I wish that you could really see my little bracelet - it's an Anchor and the perfect little accessory.  This is when the tripod and I struggle to show you what I've styled.   Speaking of tripods - anyone else who uses one, do you get strange looks from people?  I typically stop at my dance studio to take advantage of this perfectly distressed brick wall as a back drop, because it's on my way to work.  Since I also rent the building I figure if anyone is going to give me a hard time I have that going for me...  People typically just stare but I often get the questions of whether I'm taking a picture of the wall.  Yes, sir.  I'm taking a picture of a bare wall.  Every day.  People can be very curious :)

But peeps - TGIF!!  I finally woke up feeling like it was Friday and it actually was!!  Do you all have exciting things in store this weekend?  Hope so!
Enjoy

wear now & later - burgundy!

If you've been reading the past few weeks you know that I've got fall on the mind.  Big time! The weather lately has been telling us it's coming sooner than I think we're ready to admit.  But, that doesn't mean summer's over - nor, does it mean that we can't take some of falls trendiest colors and rock them early.  I love the color burgundy!!  It reminds me of when I was a kid, totally had this awesome suede burgundy Arizona brand vest...  Yep - 90's child!

I would definitely play with tones here - in the first look I've paired a boyfriend fit pant with some glitz and glam.  I added a hot pink hand bag to bring out the pinker hues in the pant and make them seem more summery!

In the second look I'm featuring this blazer (again - I'm a little obsessed ok?) with more peachy tones.  The leopard flats and darker accessories bring this look into the cooler weather while keeping it fun and transitional!

retro look & random rant

I'm not certain which element of this outfit is so retro.  But, I feel so 1965 in it - like Jackie Kennedy...
I love these pants though, and want to wear them as often as I can before stowing them for winter.

Let's just also say I'm so beyond done with my wardrobe it's not even funny.  I'm longing for classically cut, neutral colored clothing that is just dashing no matter how you style it.  Is this my age talking? Or, just a phase and lack of creativity here.  I'm finding more and more that after I've set out clothes for a few days, I'm re-working them to add more neutral colors.  Maybe I'm over the summer brights and am ready for fall earthy hues...  Am I alone here?

In case you are all dying to know - which, duh, of course you are!
My quest for a new apartment is on hold until my property manager gets the renewals back.  Then I fully expect to be looking at apartments weekly until I find the closet apartment of my dreams.  Keep track of my apartment hunt trials on Instagram

beach get away - what to pack!

In a week and a half I will travel down to North Carolina to relax on the beach for a few days! I never know what to pack for these occasions and I will need to fit everything into a carryon size case.  I am counting on timeless pieces that can be re-worn and re-mixed throughout the 4 or so days I'll be there.  Plus, you have to consider flying and sitting in a car.

A couple basic tops will see me through the days while I'm not on the beach.
A suit - of course!
Sunnies are a must!
A pair of comfortable jeans
Denim shorts are awesome for touring and are a great suit cover-up!
A dual use dress, something to have for dinner out or can be used as a cover up.
A few accessories to get me through - statement necklace will add charm and pop to any outfit and a scarf is a must especially when flying!
Toms are great for walking and so are a sensible cute sandal.

Are you taking any end of summer trips?  What will you be packing?

americana

I swear to goodness lately all I want to pair together is red white and blue!  It is such a clean look.

This weekend was great!  Friday night I was given tickets to see Keith Urban.  OH EM GEE! I'm going every year and totally get what all the hype is about.  He's an amazeballs performer!!!!!
What an incredible musician.  By the way - he came down the aisle right where we were sitting.

BOOM

Saturday I was at a competition with my kiddos all day in Buffalo/Niagara Falls.  One of my preliminary championship girls WON her competition!  Not to mention a bunch of littles did extremely well.  I was so happy and proud of them all! :)
When I got back I was happy to reconnect with some old friends.  It was awesome to see them and pick up right where we left off.

As always Sunday was nice and relaxing.  I hung out with the fam-a-lam, ate some good food, and soaked up some sun!

How was your weekend?

wear now & later - white pants

Have we all caught on to the white pant trend?  I mean, I definitely have a pair but am still oozing with envy any time I see another blogger pull them off better, or in a different style.  Aaaand I still get nervous wearing mine since I'm so accident prone, but Resolve has become my best friend (Yes, the carpet cleaner.  Yes, I use that on my clothing stains.  Yes, I just blew your mind).

It is August though (and currently quite hot and humid here!) so there's a bit of summer left, but I don't think I'm alone in pre-thinking for fall.   I want to be sure my wardrobe is ready for transition.  You would think that white pants would be a seasonal special - one trend to come and go.  I invite you to consider that the between Memoral Day and Labor Day rule no longer applies.  Wear your white pants into fall... all the way into fall.  White is a shade which does pair extremely well with other earth and jewel tones which I mentioned in my 12 Transitional Pieces post and my Fall into Neutral Season post.

I styled a pair of cropped skinny white pants for now.  Wear these with bright, bold, and beautiful colors now.   A cool girl wedge and structured crossbody will add a little charm to your look!

The later look I took jewel toned blazer and a floral top to dress up a boyfriend fit pair of chino pants. A leopard flat, neutral bag and simple accessories keep this look grounded and casual chic.

Will you be wearing white this fall?
