weekend inspiration 2

1 // 2 //

Maybe it's the 50 degree day I'm about to step into that is making me all floral and bright colored again.    Or, maybe it's that everyone is now sick of their basics and are ready to change it up.

1. I just love how effortlessly cool this girl looks with her scarf worn as a wrap.  The jeans, the loafers, all of it makes it.
2.  Gosh darn it, I need a hat and a silky floral shirt.   What a great pallet for a floral pattern - so versatile.
3.  My girl crush continues for Kendi. Loving her look here and she's making me want to chop my hair off!

As I'm not shopping, or trying not to anyways (I may "need" that hat in my life) I'm trying to pin outfits or inspiration for one of two things...
1. outfits comprised of items I have exactly or similar to already
2. inspiration for spring wardrobe update (that floral shirt would be one)

What you may have missed...
Monday I remixed a few new pieces with old
Tuesday I wore a coat as my main outfit piece
Wednesday I let you in on my winter essentials
Thursday I tried the Midi skirt trend
Friday I shared a recipe i whipped up this week

I'm going to talk a lot about not shopping and ways you can remix, so if that's not up your alley #sorrynotsorry.   I cannot be completely apologetic for my lifestyle.   I can only hope that you enjoy the content here and my remixing of my wardrobe and you'll stick around through thick and thin :)
Thank you always for reading and enjoy your weekend!

xoxo

weekend inspiration

image sources found on my Style Inspiration Pinterest Board

On Saturday's I want to share with you my favorite pins from the week.  Looks I'm inspired by, or would like to recreate out of my own pieces.
These three looks are definitely re-creatable for me.  Let's break them down;

1. Chunky sweater and midi skirt.  Hmm, I have a midi dress that I could easily put a sweater over, boom.

2.  Leather moto, graphic tee, torn jeans.   I'm a little sad I didn't scoop that J.Crew shirt up while it was on sale, in my size and pre-shopping freeze.  This look is super easy to recreate!

3. I've been pinning different ways to wear my tutu skirt I purchased for my 30th bash.  A full a-line goes great dressed down with a striped tee and denim jacket.

You may be seeing a few of these looks around here soon!

...

Sometimes I'm only a weekend blog reader, too.  Here's what you may have missed around here...

Monday I shared with you a snip-it of my 30th birthday bash!
Tuesday I recapped my favorite looks from 2013
Wednesday we spoke about resolutions and plans I have for AT40BF in 2014
Thursday I shared a story from my college days
Friday I shared how I throw together healthy meals and an at home workout

healthy and safe weekend!

5 fall to winter essentials via pinterest

There are a few things I'm obsessing over this fall/winter.  Especially when the winter weather starts a blowing like it is now in the Northeast.   These transitional pieces are no brainers and I'm sure you're just as obsessed as I am; but, I thought I'd share through some of my favorite recent pins.

A chunky knit to wear over and over.  Honestly, the few I have I would love to put on weekly rotation.  I love the cream with the leopard, brown gloves, black leggings, cognac boots - perfection.  I wish I had a cream chunky turtleneck to imitate this look.

Blair wraps herself in the infamous Zara blanket scarf.  I have a similar scarf from Charlotte Russe that I cannot stop wearing, too.  The flannel material keeps you warm while the plaid pattern keeps you chic.

Layers, layers, layers!  I would have never thought to put a button up under a turtleneck like this image.   It works, though I tell you!

The statement coat.  I love the fur in the first image (we all know my love for the faux fur) paired with the bold red it works as the perfect pop of color and interest.
The jacket in the second image I just want to curl under.  I'm not certain I would go out in the cold with seemingly wet hair as this girl did, however, if I were to I would most definitely wrap up in a cozy coat.  The love the lines on this coat with the classic silhouette.

Fur all day long.  I can't stop reaching for more inspiration on how to wear my fur vests.  They've become such staples in my closet I even find myself thinking I wear them too often - as if that's a thing.

crushing on fall style

Source

Whether on my favorite style blogs or Pinterest in general, I'm crushing on a lot of different fall looks here.  Just like everyone else I'm obsessing over fall and wishing it last!  Being in Upstate NY fall is usually cut short due to "Lake Effect Snow" (frown face).   I feel that with the fluctuation in temperature, fall is sticking around a little while (YAY).
Lets talk about these images from Pinterest.
First, how can you not idolize Olivia Palermo's style?  I mean, she's just fabulous and that fur vest and black layers is to die for.
Blair from Atlantic-Pacific does everything right.  From her layered looks with boyfriend jeans and heels to super feminine dresses.  Loving how she paired a super heavy fisherman-like sweater over a longsleeve and again with an oversized turtleneck, boyfriend jeans and heels.
Kimberly from Penny Pincher Fashion (who actually also endures Upstate NY weather) her layered look is something I will be recreating soon!!
Black on black with an oversized hat is such a cozy look - perfect for the weekend and errand running
I'm in love with Kate's leather pencil; something I'm looking to add to my closet this season.

What is your fall style inspiration?
